Representatives of the research team, Karazhanova М.К. and Bissembayeva К.Т., completed an international scientific internship as part of the megaproject «Development of integrated energy-saving technologies for environmental sustainability and efficient of marine operations in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea».

The internship was conducted at a European laboratory equipped with advanced analytical instrumentation, including the DSA100 (Drop Shape Analyzer), designed for high-precision measurements of interfacial tension in liquid systems under various pressure conditions.

A distinctive feature of this work was the use of actual seawater from the Caspian Sea, collected from the coastal area of the Aktau region. This approach allowed the laboratory experiments to closely replicate natural conditions, significantly enhancing the practical relevance of the results.

The study focused on the properties of the model system «n-decane – Caspian Sea water» under both atmospheric and elevated pressure conditions. Experimental dependencies of interfacial tension on pressure were obtained, droplet stability and salinity effects were analyzed, and a valuable dataset was collected to support future hydrodynamic modeling of oil droplet behavior in marine environments.

The internship also included experience sharing with international colleagues, training in the operation of high-pressure analytical equipment, parameter configuration, and methods for interpreting scientific data. The acquired knowledge will form the foundation for future publications, computational models, and further research within the framework of the megaproject.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the host laboratory for its high scientific standards, support, and warm hospitality.
