The opening of the new educational building of the Maritime Academy is an important step towards the development of maritime education in Kazakhstan and the transformation of Mangystau into a major transport, logistics, and maritime hub of the Caspian region.

This is an investment not only in the development of our university, but also in the future of the entire region and the country!

At a meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need to pay particular attention to the development of university science and research infrastructure and instructed the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan to establish engineering centers incorporating elements of Centers of Academic Excellence through program-targeted funding.

This strategic initiative has laid the foundation for developing Yessenov University’s Maritime Academy into a leading educational and research center in the country’s maritime sector and has provided impetus for the implementation of the project to establish a Center of Academic Excellence.

Within the framework of the program “Development of Integrated Energy-Saving Technologies to Enhance the Environmental Sustainability and Efficiency of Maritime Operations in the Kazakhstan Sector of the Caspian Sea,” implemented by Yessenov University under targeted program funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, marine simulators from the leading Norwegian company Kongsberg, training simulators from the Russian company Storm, and multimedia training modules compliant with international IMO standards have been installed to establish engineering centers incorporating elements of Centers of Academic Excellence.

These facilities enable students to gain practical experience in conditions that closely replicate real-life ship navigation.

In addition, a certification system for maritime specialists has been introduced in accordance with the international STCW 78/95 requirements, creating new opportunities to enhance the competitiveness of Kazakhstani specialists in the international labor market.
